Galactic conquest has certainly been the focus of many novels in the sci-fi genre. Never before though has the idea of bio-engineered breeding proto-molecules sticking a wrench the proverbial works been the focus, until James S.A. Corey’s Expanse series. Today you can watch this series on the sci fi channel, but the 6 books in the series are so much better. Follow an idealistic captain from Earth who lets his own moral code disrupt the precarious balance of power on every single space station between Earth and Saturn’s outer moons. Add in a proto-molecule that can morph into any shape and you  have the start of a great read. I highly recommend this out of this world experience.
